Hey friends! I don't know about you, but I'm always looking for fun new gift ideas for the other foodies, aspiring chefs and nutrition nuts in my life! I thought I might share some of my favorite things to use in the kitchen and everyday life to make healthy living a little more convenient and fun so you can share them with the ones you love!
A Healthy Holiday Gift Guide for your favorite foodie, chef, or nutrition nut:
An iPad cookbook stand - to make reading and following recipes on food blogs, like this fine one, even easier. (Wink, wink. Nudge, nudge!)
A Sodastream - as one of those people who struggle to drink enough water every day, this is a game changer. The sparkling water it makes is fun for just drinking water OR cocktails! Squeeze in some fresh citrus juice or a couple drops of essential oil and you'll never buy that sparkly water from the store ever again.
Glass tupperware - store, reheat and eat out of the same dish. No more microwaving in plastic (stop doing that now!) or leaky tupperware containers. Make that food prep and those brown bag lunches easy peasy.
A good ol' Blender bottle - I use these to mix up my branched-chain amino acids with my workouts, my super shakes, and especially when I travel and I rely a little more on protein powder to keep my diet balanced
A smoothie bottle that doesn’t sweat. Who likes to throw a moist bottle in their purse or bag? Not me!
A Silpat. You've heard me sing the praises of this thing MANY times. Save your pans, avoid using cooking sprays, forget wasting all that tin foil, and don't ever lose the bottom of your baked goodies to pan stick again!
A damn pretty cutting board. Did you know bamboo ruins the sharp edges of knives? Just ask any knife-sharpener. Replace that bamboo with some real wood!
Fun aprons - because everyone needs a little personality in the kitchen.
Kitchen herb growing kit - add a little greenery to your kitchen and your food all year round with this cool little creation!
Pizza stone - who doesn't like homemade pizza? You get to be in control of ingredients. It also works great to crisp up pizza alternatives like cauliflower pizza crusts and homemade breads!
A Vegetable grill basket - because what's a barbecue without veggies?!
A beautiful salad bowl - whether you're having company or taking a salad to a potluck, a great salad bowl can make a real statement on your dinner table!
Popsicle molds - to make fun, homemade, adult- or kid-friendly pops!
An iPhone tripod - for that budding food photographer/stylist/blogger on your list.
A beautiful notebook to jot down all your meal ideas, workouts or inspirational words you might think of.
Tools & Gadgets
A Spiralizer! It's hard to miss the popularity of every type of veggie noodle imaginable. This is such a fun gadget to have in the kitchen! Anyone can use it!
A Microplane Grater- for zesting fruit, shredding cheese, shaving chocolate, and so many other foods!
A Milk Frother - this guy is so fun for homemade lattes and cappuccinos.
Measuring spoons that actually fit into spice jars!
In-Oven thermometer - for those food safety geeks in your life (like me!). I can’t do the whole “rare feels like *this* and medium feels like *this*” with meat yet, so I rely on the internal temperature to help me get it right every time.
Immersion Blender - this baby can make blended soups, sauces and purees like nobody's business. No more transferring boiling hot, lava-like soup from the pot to the blender. Just stick this right in the pot! BONUS! It comes with a whisk and mini food processor attachment too!
Top of the Line Splurges
Le Creuset dutch oven - every serious chef needs one of these. Stews, soups, braises and everything in between. If your grandma has one, you may get one passed down to you - they last a life time!
If you REEEEALLLY love your budding home chef, get them these pots and pans from All Clad. The copper core enables fast, even heating and prevents warping. They will last them a lifetime (they have the warranty to prove it!). If you can't spring for the whole set, you could just start stocking them up, one pan at a time.
A real chef needs real knives. The Wusthof Classic knives are the best I’ve ever had without absolutely breaking the bank.
If you don't mind breaking the bank or want to give a very special gift, Japanese knives are the way to go. Try this Deba knife:
Vitamix - this beast truly earns it's spot on my kitchen counter. Is there anything it can't do? I think not. Nut butters, soups, smoothies, sauces, nut milks, the list goes on and on.
If a Vitamix isn’t in the budget, the Ninja is also pretty amazing from what I hear!
The Breville convection toaster oven…this thing is a BOSS! I use it every single day. It's especially great in the summer when you don't want to heat up the whole oven and kitchen just to bake a couple pieces of fish.
Cuisinart Food Processor - I use this bad larry so regularly in so many of my recipes (cauliflower rice, anyone?). I can't recommend it enough!
Kitchen Aid mixer for the aspiring baker in your life - or for that amazing mom of yours for all those cookies, brownies, pancakes and waffles she has whipped up for you over the years.
Memberships and Subscriptions:
Thrive market - help your favorite nutrition nut save big on their fresh, organic, planet friendly groceries and household products with an annual membership. They just started fresh food delivery as well!
Fabfitfun subscription - seasonal, fun fitness gear, wellness and home products, fashion finds and beauty goods that help you feel good from the inside out!
Vellabox Candle subscription - because everyone could use a little serenity. Ahhhhh....
Magnetic conversion chart - because who the heck knows how many tablespoons are in 1/3 cup?!
Sur La Table - in addition to all the cool gadgets, kitchen & dining goods the stores above have, Sur La Table offers themed cooking classes - an awesome gift for the aspiring home chef.
Whole Foods gift card - to stock up on all the most awesome, specialty foods to make the most awesome foodie creations.
Nutmeg grater - because fresh ground nutmeg is SO much better than the stuff in jars.
